How to Get a Rise of the Resistance Boarding Group

(as of September 23, 2021 Rise of the Resistance is not using the virtual queue system)

A must-do for all Star Wars fans is Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney is using a virtual queue for its guests in order to ride this attraction. There is no stand-by queue.

Make Sure You are All Set Up!

Have Your My Disney Experience App set up;
Have you park admission and park pass for Hollywood Studios on the day you are trying to get a boarding group; and
Make sure your friends and family on your My Disney Experience App are linked if they are going to be in your boarding group.

Boarding Group Times

You can only try for a boarding group at 7:00 AM (from anywhere) and 1:00 PM (after scanned in to Hollywood Studios).

If you secured a group at 7:00 AM, the app will not let you try to get another group at 1:00 PM.

Step By Step Guide to Rise of the Resistance

Open your My Disney Experience App BEFORE 7:00 AM or 1:00 PM.

Click the 3 bars on the bottom right.

Click Virtual Queue

Click Join Virtual Queue

You should now see this below. Refresh this page a few seconds before 7:00 AM and/or 1:00 PM

Once the queue is open you will see this and do not hesitate, click JOIN

Once you click join on the screen above, anyone on your My Disney Experience that is eligible to ride (i.e has a valid park ticket and park reservation) will automatically be there, just click the join button at the bottom immediately.

If the force was with you, you will now see which boarding group you were place in.

You can check your app whenever you like to guesstimate when you will be riding. You should receive a notification from the app (so be sure you have notifications turned on) when your boarding group is called. Once your group is called, you have one hour to check-in for the ride.

Can I do Rider Switch with Rise of the Resistance?

Absolutely! You check in with the rest of your group and the cast member will direct you from there on what to do.

Can I use a DAS Pass with Rise of the Resistance?

Yep! When your boarding group is called, let the cast members know you have a DAS pass. They will let you enter immediately through the FastPass entrance.
